E-charging expansion initiative: SMATRICS EnBW installs 130 ultra-fast charging points at ZGONC locations
ZGONC is launching its initiative to expand the e-charging infrastructure at its own branches. The Austrian company is relying on SMATRICS EnBW as an experienced partner for ultra-fast charging. A total of 130 charging points will be installed at 18 locations by 2026
“The collaboration with ZGONC shows how companies can work together to drive forward sustainable mobility solutions. With 130 charging points by 2026, we are not only creating an attractive offer for ZGONC customers, but are also making an important contribution to promoting electromobility,” says Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW.
ZGONC is massively expanding its e-charging infrastructure and is focusing on speed in two ways: SMATRICS EnBW will be installing an average of around five charging points per month by 2026. High-power chargers, i.e. ultra-fast charging points with up to 400 kW of power and a direct payment terminal, will be used. These offer maximum convenience and flexibility for e-mobilists: Depending on the charging capacity of their vehicle, customers can charge electricity for a range of up to 400 kilometers in just 15 minutes. Payment is easy with the SMATRICS charging card directly at the charging station or via card payment with VISA, Mastercard, Google Pay or Apple Pay.
Michael Dockal, Managing Director of ZGONC, explains: “We at ZGONC have always focused on innovative ideas. That's why we started focusing on battery-powered devices a few years ago and have thus positioned our range perfectly for today's world. Now that transportation is also becoming increasingly electric, one of the next logical steps for us was to make our contribution to the expansion of the charging network in Austria. We are happy to make our parking spaces available for the cooperation with SMATRICS EnBW and are sure that we can also offer our customers further added value. We look forward to many successful years of cooperation with SMATRICS EnBW.”
First charging location at ZGONC in Brunn am Gebirge already in operation
The charging infrastructure is currently in operation at the first of 38 ZGONC locations. It is located in Brunn am Gebirge, close to Westfield Shopping City and the A21 highway. Customers have access to four state-of-the-art charging points with an output of up to 400 kW. “We are seeing a sharp increase in demand for e-charging infrastructure, especially in the retail sector. With the state-of-the-art charging points, we are bringing e-mobility to where it is needed every day. Customers can charge reliably and, above all, quickly while they shop,” explains Landsbek.
The other charging locations are spread across ZGONC branches in the federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria and Carinthia. These will gradually go into operation by 2026. SMATRICS EnBW operates all of its fast-charging points with 100 percent green electricity.
