SMATRICS EnBW opens fast-charging park in Italy

  • Between Innsbruck and Lake Garda: 20 fast-charging points for travelers in Brixen-Vahrn directly on the Brenner motorway
  • SMATRICS EnBW plans three more locations in northern Italy

SMATRICS EnBW, the leading operator of fast-charging infrastructure for electric cars in Austria, has put the first fast-charging park in Italy into operation. The site is located directly on the Brenner freeway, exit Brixen-Pustertal, and is currently one of the largest charging parks in Italy. This makes it even easier for e-mobilists to reach the South Tyrolean Alps, as fresh range is already available on site. The same applies to travelers to and from Italy via the central European north-south axis between Innsbruck in Austria and Verona on Lake Garda in Italy.

In Brixen-Vahrn, drivers will find 20 HPC (High Power Charging) charging points with an output of up to 400 kilowatts. Depending on the configuration of their vehicle, they can charge up to 400 kilometers in 15 minutes. This means that travelers can reach Venice, Florence or Munich, for example, without having to make another charging stop. The ultra-modern location can be expanded to a total of 24 HPC charging points if demand increases and also has solar roofing and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Unlimited fast charging
“E-mobility has long been the norm in people's everyday lives and when traveling. That's why we are expanding our fast charging offer for drivers along highly frequented highways in northern Italy,” says Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW. “In this way, we are also enabling easy charging on the way to vacation regions on the Mediterranean. From our point of view, no other form of drive is as climate-friendly as it is efficient and already available nationwide.”

In the coming weeks, SMATRICS EnBW plans to commission another fast-charging park with twelve HPC charging points on the A4 Turin-Trieste highway in Palmanova, near the Slovenian border. Two more sites are currently being planned between Venice and Trieste, as well as between Bergamo and Milan, respectively, a site at the Portogruaro exit with 16 HPC charging points (expandable with an additional 2 charging points) and one with 20 HPC charging points (expandable with an additional 4 charging points). Like the SMATRICS EnBW stations in Austria, these sites are also part of the EnBW HyperNet.

SMATRICS EnBW has built Austria's largest fast-charging network and is continuing to expand it with vigor. The company put more than 200 additional ultra-fast charging points into operation in 2024 alone.

Facts about the fast-charging park in Brixen-Vahrn:
