E-Mobility in Rankweil: First SMATRICS EnBW Ultra-Fast Charging Station in Vorarlberg Begins Operations

The central fast-charging hub for the region and commuters: With the newly opened charging park on the A14 in Rankweil, the SMATRICS EnBW charging network now offers high-power charging in all Austrian state provinces.

SMATRICS EnBW continues to expand its charging network: With the opening of the Rankweil charging park in Vorarlberg, the operator of Austria’s largest ultra-fast charging network now offers high-power charging infrastructure in all federal states. Eight HPC (High Power Charging) stations at the location now allow users to quickly, reliably, and conveniently recharge their electric vehicles for trips across Austria, even along the heavily trafficked A14 near the Feldkirch Nord exit.

“The ultra-fast charging park in Rankweil demonstrates what future-proof e-charging infrastructure looks like: Vehicles are charged where people are already spending their time—not far from shopping opportunities and key transportation connections. We place particular emphasis on this as we expand our nationwide network,” explains Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW.

Ultra-Fast Charging at the Perfect Spot

The new ultra-fast charging station at Maut 4 in 6830 Rankweil is open 24/7 and is located right next to numerous local shops and other shopping options. It is just a few minutes’ drive from the A14 Rheintal motorway and offers electric vehicle drivers from the region, as well as commuters and travelers passing through from Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland, the opportunity to quickly charge their vehicles for the rest of their journey.

The eight new ultra-fast charging stations have a power output of up to 400 kilowatts. Depending on the vehicle, electric vehicle drivers can use them to charge enough power for up to 400 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes. Like all of its fast-charging stations in Austria, SMATRICS EnBW operates the one in Rankweil using 100 percent electricity from renewable energy sources. The charging park is equipped with signage, sound barriers, and lighting.

As Austria’s leading provider, SMATRICS EnBW already operates more than 720 ultra-fast charging stations at approximately 120 locations. The company is also consistently expanding its own charging network in line with demand through 2026 to meet the steadily growing need for fast-charging infrastructure and to continuously close remaining gaps in the network.
