SMATRICS EnBW opens first charging park with ultra-fast chargers for cars and trucks in Regau
Featuring a total of 15 ultra-fast charging points as well as convenient, service-oriented facilities, the state-of-the-art charging park in Regau, Upper Austria, offers excellent connections to the A1 Westautobahn motorway and is located in close proximity to major tourist regions.
In November 2025, SMATRICS EnBW opened its new charging park in Regau (Upper Austria), between the Westautobahn highway and the Westbahn railway line. The park consists of twelve charging points for cars and three charging points for trucks. “For the first time, we are offering a shared charging location for cars and trucks at the charging park in Regau – with state-of-the-art ultra-fast charging stations,” explains Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW. To mark the launch, there will be an opening price of 49 cents per kWh in Regau until February 2026.
Upper Austria is currently the state with the most ultra-fast charging points (almost 700) in Austria. SMATRICS EnBW is consistently expanding its charging infrastructure and currently has more than 100 HPC locations throughout Austria.
Peter Harringer, mayor of Regau, expressed his delight at the opening of the charging park: “Electric mobility has long been part of everyday life in Upper Austria. I am delighted that this facility will enable us to make life in Regau more sustainable for our citizens.”
Excellent on-site inrastructure in Regau
Thomas Landesbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW, emphasizes: “With Regau, we are deliberately creating infrastructure that not only meets the needs of electric cars, but also those of heavy goods vehicles: publicly accessible, ultra-fast charging at locations with separate access and charging lanes for trucks. This reduces downtime for fleets and makes emission-free logistics predictable and economical.” Hauke Hinrichs, COO of SMATRICS EnBW, adds: “Regau is an example of next-level charging infrastructure: a PV roof provides locally sourced green electricity, clearly visible price displays create trust and transparency, and a video-monitored snack area with vending machines makes short breaks safe and convenient – charging thus becomes sustainable, transparent, and comfortable.”
The HPC chargers have a charging capacity of up to 400 kW, enabling a range of 400 km to be charged in just 15 minutes. If demand increases, the site can be extended flexibly with four additional car charging points.
The car charging areas are equipped with a 30 kWp PV roof, which directly covers part of the charging park's electricity requirements. This location also focuses on clear and comprehensible price information. The price display is visible from a distance and comparable to those at conventional gas stations. The ad hoc price per kWh can be displayed flexibly and updated daily. Payments at the charging station can be made using a charging card, app, or direct payment terminal with credit, debit, or mobile payment solutions.
Regau charges heavy goods vehicles: Separately designated truck loading areas
In addition to video surveillance and a snack area with a vending machine, another important aspect for e-truck drivers is separate access and a charging lane for trucks with large parking spaces. This separation of car and truck areas enables efficient charging of commercial vehicles, minimizes crossing and waiting times, and improves safety and traffic flow at the site.
Excellent connections to tourist destinations
SMATRICS EnBW is purposefully installing charging stations at high-traffic locations along highways. Thanks to its convenient location along the A1 Westautobahn, Regau is the ideal charging park for commuters who want to charge quickly on their way to work or home. Traunsee and Attersee are also only 20 minutes away. The Regau charging park thus meets the demand for public charging infrastructure in the important tourist region of Upper Austria, especially during the holiday season.
