Upgrade in E-Charging: Significant Expansion of the Fast-Charging Network in the Salzburg Area
SMATRICS EnBW is expanding its e-charging network in the Salzburg area with several fast-charging parks with a total of 26 charging points. This offers greater flexibility when charging, which is especially beneficial for frequent drivers and commuters.
The demand for flexible and fast charging options is constantly increasing – a development that SMATRICS EnBW is meeting with a powerful infrastructure. “In recent months, we have been able to put three fast charging parks into operation – Business Boulevard in Sterneckstraße, Wals-Siezenheim, and Wals-Himmelreich. This enables us to deliver the flexibility and speed of charging that e-mobility users demand today,” says Thomas Landsbek, CEO of SMATRICS EnBW.
The new charging parks offer customers a total of 26 high-performance ultra-fast charging points—known as HPC charging points—with up to 400 kW of power. There are eight charging points each in Wals-Siezenheim and at Business Boulevard, and ten charging points in Wals-Himmelreich. These ultra-fast chargers can charge enough electricity for up to 400 kilometers of driving in 15 minutes. The excellent connection to the A1 Westautobahn highway makes the locations particularly attractive for commuters and long-distance drivers.
Charging Parks Reduce Waiting and Down Times
A recent survey conducted by USCALE on behalf of SMATRICS shows that the importance of public fast-charging infrastructure continues to grow. Electric vehicle drivers—especially the “flexible,” “commuters,” and “frequent drivers” groups—appreciate public fast-charging points along high-traffic routes. “The more flexible e-mobility users are, the more they want to charge quickly and at hotspots such as Wals-Siezenheim or Wals-Himmelreich. This also increases the importance of a powerful fast-charging network,” says Landsbek. The advantage of larger charging parks is that they offer reliable availability as well as fast charging. Waiting and downtimes are reduced significantly.
Major Expansion of Ultra-Fast Chargers in Salzburg
The city of Salzburg records more than 120,000 journeys by commuters every day – a figure that underlines the growing demand for fast-charging infrastructure. SMATRICS EnBW is therefore continuing to expand the fast-charging network throughout the state. Since the beginning of 2024 alone, a total of 50 HPC charging points have been added in Salzburg, with a further 16 charging points planned for 2025 (in Hallein and Zell am See). With the continuous expansion of the charging infrastructure, SMATRICS EnBW is making an important contribution to e-mobility and enabling users to travel more efficiently and flexibly.
